PRE-FACIAL CARE
AVOID ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
Before your facial avoid AHA's, BHA's, Retin-A, Retinol, Tretinoin, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide and other strong actives leading up to your treatment. We suggest staying away from Retin-A and Retinol in particular for a 7-day period before the service to avoid being extra sensitive during your facial.
DON'T GET BOTOX OR FILLER
You'll need to wait TWO WEEKS after getting Botox and/or filler before getting a facial to allow for everything to settle properly. When getting a facial, your skin therapist will be massaging your face, which could make your injectable migrate if it hasn't settled yet. In this case, it's much better to be safe than sorry.
AVOID EXFOLIATION
As your facial treatment will include some form of exfoliation, to prepare for your treatment it’s best to give your skin a break and avoid any harsh/strong exfoliation the week of your facial, and any gentle exfoliation a few days before your appointment. You don’t want to over-exfoliate your skin as this can lead to dry patches, rashes and irritation.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
To see the best results from your facial, you want your skin to be super hydrated; this will help you achieve that radiant glow we all desire. It’s also important to keep your skin hydrated after your appointment too to ensure your results are optimum. Try not to over-hydrate to where you think you may need a toilet break mid-facial though and make sure you pop to the loo before your treatment starts.
AVOID CAFFEINE
You’ll want to be in a state of relaxation throughout your facial and if the caffeine starts to kick in midway through your appointment, it may ruin your experience. To be on the safe side try to avoid caffeine before your appointment and wait until after the treatment before submitting to your cravings.
KEEP SKIN BARE
It’s not a necessity to come to your facial appointment with no makeup on as this will be removed in the cleansing portion of the treatment, but you should avoid using any other skincare products such as creams and serums on the day of your appointment. This is because some ingredients in these products could conflict with ingredients used in the facial treatment, resulting in irritation. So, to be safe steer clear of skincare products prior to your facial, or be sure to wash all products off your skin before attending.
DON'T WAX, SHAVE OR TWEEZE
To prepare for your facial treatment make sure any facial shaving, tweezing or waxing is done at least 24-48 hours before your treatment is due. If there are any small cuts or swollen hair follicles on the treatment area, the skin could become sore and irritated when it comes into contact with products used throughout the facial.
